Two years ago, 2016 Book Love Foundation grant winner Austin Hall opened the door to Strategic Reading, his high school elective, reading workshop course inspired by Penny Kittle’s Book Love philosophy. This year, join him as he takes his relationship with books and reading to the next level.
In this session, attendees will be provided with details about how the class is organized and how students are assessed for their reading, strategies to build engagement and independence in readers, mini-lesson ideas that can be implemented immediately and in any ELA class, approaches to spread book love in their school community (no matter the grade level they teach), and tips for creating their own Book Love Elective at their schools.
